What Is The Emotion Code?

The Emotion Code is a alternative energy balancing method developed by holistic chiropractor Dr. Bradley Nelson (ret.) that uses muscle testing to identify what the system describes as trapped emotional energies.

While most emotions come and go, the energetic component associated with an emotionally intense experience may sometimes remain. That's what The Emotion Code refers to as a trapped emotion.

You don't necessarily have to still feel the emotion for it to be worth exploring. You may have consciously moved on and you may understand exactly what happened. But sometimes there's a difference between understanding an experience and feeling as though you've completely moved beyond it's influence.

That's where The Emotion Code comes in.

Emotion Code

How Does The Emotion Code Work?

We don't start by deciding what I think is wrong with you. Actually, I don't particularly like starting from the assumption that something is wrong with you. Instead, we start with curiosity.

What are you noticing?

Maybe it's a reaction that seems disproportionate to what's happening.

  • A relationship pattern.

  • A situation where you repeatedly get stuck.

  • Something you're having difficulty moving beyond.

  • Or simply: “Something feels off, and I don't know why.” (This is the most common thing I hear from clients!)

From there, we use muscle testing to ask the subconscious a series of questions and determine whether trapped emotional energy is something your system is ready to address.

What Is Muscle Testing?

Muscle testing is used within The Emotion Code as a way of receiving yes-or-no responses from the subconscious.

Rather than relying entirely on our conscious interpretation:

  • This must be because of my childhood.

  • I'm sure this is about my last relationship.

  • Obviously this happened because of that.

We ask:

  • Is there a trapped emotion connected to what we're exploring?

  • Which emotion?

  • Is there anything else we need to know about it?

  • Is it ready to be released?

Sometimes what emerges makes perfect sense. Sometimes it's surprising. That's part of what I find fascinating about the process.

What Happens When We Find a Trapped Emotion?

Once we've identified the emotion and any information needed around it, The Emotion Code uses a simple energetic technique intended to release it. Then we check again. There are often multiple trapped emotions because.... life! We're not trying to clear every emotion you've ever experienced. We're following what your system is prioritizing now.

That's an important distinction.

Do I Have to Talk About My Past?

Not unless you want to.

You don't have to arrive prepared to tell me your entire life story. Sometimes an age or event connected to an emotion emerges and immediately means something to you. Sometimes it doesn't.

And sometimes very little information about the original experience is needed. I don't believe we need to dig into painful memories simply for the sake of digging. We gather the information the process requires and move from there.

That's one of the benefits of using The Emotion Code.

What Is a Heart-Wall?

If you've been researching The Emotion Code, you've probably also encountered the term Heart-Wall.

A Heart-Wall is a specific concept within The Emotion Code describing trapped emotional energies that the subconscious may accumulate as a form of protection around the heart during difficult experiences.

Think of it as emotional protection that may have made perfect sense when it formed.

The question is whether you still need that same protection now.

Is The Emotion Code the Same as The Body Code or Belief Code?

They're related, but they're not the same thing.

Emotion Code focuses specifically on trapped emotional energies.

Body Code gives us a broader framework for exploring energetic imbalances beyond trapped emotions.

Belief Code focuses on subconscious beliefs and belief systems.

In my work, I don't require you to choose which one you need before booking.

Because how would you know?

That's my job.

You bring what you're noticing, and muscle testing helps us determine where to look.

Can The Emotion Code Be Done Remotely?

Yes. Within this modality, the practitioner and client don't need to be physically in the same room.

I work with clients in person in Naples, Florida, as well as remotely by phone or email.

The process of identifying and working with trapped emotional energies remains the same.

For my in-person Energy Alignment Sessions, I can also incorporate Bio-Well energetic mapping, which gives us a visual energetic baseline before we begin the Code work.

What Do I Need to Know Before a Session?

Very little.

  • You don't need to know which Code you need.

  • You don't need to identify the emotion.

  • You don't need to have the perfect intention.

And you definitely don't need to show up with a beautifully organized explanation of your entire life. Just bring what you're noticing.

The pattern. The reaction. The place where you feel stuck. The thing that keeps showing up.

We can start there.

The Question Isn't Always “Why?”

I think we're naturally drawn to understanding ourselves.

  • Why do I react this way?

  • Why does this keep happening?

  • Why can't I just move past this?

Understanding can be incredibly valuable. But sometimes you've already answered the why.

You understand the pattern, analyzed it, talked about, journaled, meditated, and yet something still isn't shifting.

That's when I like asking a different question:

What's underneath the pattern?

The Emotion Code gives us one way to explore that.
